Inaugural Bob Leiby Memorial Rescheduled for Oct. 7th Season Finale

ABBOTTSTOWN, PA – 9/2/2017 – Persistent rain showers through the morning and into the afternoon has forced Lincoln Speedway promoters to cancel tonight’s September 2nd racing program. The Inaugural Bob Leiby Memorial has been rescheduled to now be a part of the October 7th season-ending Manufacturers Appreciation race. Additionally, the fireworks display scheduled for tonight has been moved to the September 16th Dirt Classic.

With the cancelation of tonight’s September 2nd racing, so is the final scheduled point race for the 410 sprinters and thus ends the season-long battle for the coveted track championship. With that said, Phoenixville’s Brian Montieth claims the 2017 Lawrence Chevrolet 410 Sprint Track Championship by 225 points over the defending track champion Alan Krimes. It is Montieth’s 6th track title at the Pigeon Hills oval over the last 10 years (2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2015, 2017).

Lincoln Speedway will be dark next weekend (September 9th), returning to action on Saturday, September 16th with the URC/358 Sprint Challenge and 358 Late Models. With the battle for 358 sprint track championship running through the the October 7th season-finale, all URC/358 sprinters in competition that night will be awarded 100 Lincoln Speedway “show-up” points-only.

In addition to the 360/358 sprint challenge and 358 late models on September 16th, there will be a special appearance of the Eastern Museum of Motor Racing (EMMR) and Pen-Mar Vintage Race Car Club. Racing action is scheduled to get underway at 7:30 PM, with general admission gates opening at 5:30 PM for the fans.
