FORSYTHE DRIVES WISNER FAMILY #2W TO SECOND CAREER LINCOLN “410”SPRINT CAR WIN
Aug 31, 2013, 23:59

Rahmer cements his Lincoln legacy with 11th career track title;

Matt Campbell follows first career “358” Trail-Way win with first career Lincoln “358” win on successive nights;

Enders edges Eichelberger in super sportsman main; rain results in Lincoln “two month night”

ABBOTTSTOWN, PA, 8/31/13 – There was nothing wrong with Glenndon Forsythe that a new car couldn’t fix.

Forsythe started fourth, grabbed the lead exiting the first two turns, and drove away from the field to score his second career Lincoln win in the 25-lap “410” sprint car feature on Saturday night. It was Forsythe’s first Lincoln win since June of 2001, and this time came in the Livingston Lawn Care #2W owned by Norm, Penny, and daughter Whitney Wisner of Hanover, the family’s first career win.

The checkered flag fell on the first of three features just a few minutes before midnight, following a two-hour rain delay.

“It was sorta’ one lane…it gets that way when you have a rain delay,” said Forsythe in victory lane, “We sorta’ sucked all year so we started toward the front. I didn’t need a 26th lap, because I was falling out of the seat!”

 “We changed race cars,” added Forsythe, “We wasted three-quarters of a year on another frame, and did everything. We couldn’t make it work and had another one sitting there. I want to thank the Wisner family for sticking with me, and giving me another shot in a different car.”

Jacob Allen started on the outside of the front row and ran second every lap, actually closing on the leader in lapped traffic in the middle stages of the race. But Allen was never able to set up for the pass, and crossed a Lincoln career-best second, followed by tenth-starting Alan Krimes, who passed polesitter Hunter Mackison on the last lap.

Ninth-starting Brian Montieth and 18th starting Danny Dietrich completed the top five. Sixth through tenth were Hunter Mackison (who hit the guardrail after contact with Montieth coming off the final turn), Cory Haas, Jim Siegel, Ryan Smith, and Logan Schuchart, who came from 22nd spot and then came from the back again after being involved in a lap five crash in turn two.

Fred Rahmer finished sixth in his heat and pulled into the pits on the first lap, but earned enough appearance points to lock up an unprecedented 11th track title when he took the green for warm-ups. Rahmer’s 169 career wins at Lincoln came between 1987and last week, and his first track title was in 1994, giving him 11 titles in the past 19 years.

Heats for the 24 “410” Sprints were won by Haas, Adam Wilt, and Forsythe.

One night after claiming his first career “358” sprint car win at Trail-Way Speedway, Fawn Grove’s Matt Campbell drove to his first career Lincoln win. In doing so, the Kennard-Dale sophomore become the third 15-year-old rookie to win a “358” sprint car feature at Lincoln this season.

Campbell started on the outside of the front row and took the high line around turns one and two to take the lead from polesitter Jeff Halligan, another rookie, and was scored the leader of every lap. His final margin of victory was 3.15 seconds over ninth-starting Tyler Ross. Third through fifth were eighth-starting Tim Wagaman, 12th-starting Austin Hogue, and rookie Chase Dietz.

Niki Young’s eighth-place finish and Jeff Rohrbaugh’s ninth-place finish sets up a battle between those two heading into the final points race of the season for the “358”sprint cars next Saturday night. Young will enter the final points race with a slim 25-point lead.

A double-points night for the Central PA “358” point series solidified Austin Hogue’s hold on the season-long series.

Heats for the 30 “358” Sprints were won by Halligan, Dietz, and Cody Fletcher, with Chris Arnold winning the consolation.

Mike Enders took the lead from Rich Eichelberger on lap 18 to claim his first win of the year in the 25-lap super sportsman feature.  A late-race caution gave Eichelberger another chance, and he kept it close, but Enders’ final margin of victory was .91 seconds over the Lobar #8 and Chad Criswell. Fourth and fifth in the division’s final tune-up for the “Lawrence Chevrolet Sportsman 100” in two week (9/14) were Leroy Martin and Scott Dellinger.

Polesitter Jaremi Hansen led the first four laps before outside front row starter Tom Wyckoff took over until lap seven.

Eichelberger took command on lap eight, and led until Enders caught him on lap 18.

Heats for the 33 Super Sportsman won by Dellinger, Criswell, Chris Meleason, and Eichelberger, with Rick Barr winning the consolation.

Lincoln will return to action next Saturday night, September 7, at 7 PM for the final 358 Sprint point race. Joining them will be the PASS RaceSaver (305) Sprints, and Thundercars. Gates will open at 5 PM.
