Haas leading with six laps in the books; 358 late model, super sportsman features to be made up 7/5
ABBOTTSTOWN, PA, 5/17/08 - Lincoln Speedway tried, but Mother Nature finally had her way Saturday. With six laps in the books of the Cindy Rowe Auto Glass 410 Sprint feature, the rains came during a red flag following an AJ Michael flip in turns 1 and 2.
With more rain on the way, Lincoln Speedway promoters Bob and Don Leiby and Alan Kreitzer pulled the plug, postponing the remainder of the "410" sprint feature to Saturday, June 7th and scheduling the make-up features for the MALCO Landscaping 358 late models and super sportsman for July 5th as part of Wintermyer’s Auto Salvage Night.
Doug Dodson snatched the lead from polesitter Adam Lawrence at the outset, leading the first five laps before Jeff Busby struck the outside guardrail and came to a stop on the backstretch, bringing out the caution flag. On the restart, a red flag came out for a flipping John Rudisill, who struck the outside wall in turn four while running sixth. But Dodson and Haas made contact entering turn three on the restart, damaging the left tire on the Crockett Log Homes #43. Though Dodson was still the leader of lap six, his tire went down during the ensuing red flag for Michael on lap seven. Dodson pushed into the pits and rejoined the rear of the field just before the final restart which resulted in the Michael flip.
The rains came during the red, and all cars were taken to the pits, ending the night.
Haas will restart the leader in the make-up show followed by Nick Schlauch Jr., Cris Eash, Adam Lawrence, Josh Wells, Alan Krimes, Michael Carber, Aaron Ott, Bobby Howard and Austin Reed.
Heats for the 18 "410" sprints were won by Michael and Dodson. Heats for the 23 "358" Late Models were won by Pat Beard, Gene Knaub and John Baker. Heats for the 36 Super sportsman were won by John Garman, Rich Eichelberger, Aaron Eichelberger and Paul Miller. Twin consolations were won by Russ Mitten and Eric Eckert.
Next Saturday night, May 24th at 7 PM, it will be KLINES SERVICES NIGHT as Lincoln Speedway hosts the third leg of the 2nd Annual Keystone Cup Series. The 30-lap $5,000-to-win event is the third stop of the five-race series run over a six day period.
