Central PA Legends feature postponed by rain to August 16th

ABBOTTSTOWN, PA, 6/29/08 - It was a perfect night for Spring Grove’s Tim Gladfelter in Sunday’s Pennsylvania 600cc Micro-Sprint Speedweek show at Lincoln Speedway.

After winning one of ten heats for the 94 cars on hand, Gladfelter picked pill #1 for the start, saw a caution flag every time he approached lapped traffic, led every lap, and then took the checkered just moments before it began to rain.

Though he led the whole way, Gladfelter’s margin of victory was a slim .22-seconds over second-place Heath Henley of Manheim after a final two-lap dash to the checkered.

"This is without question my biggest win ever," said a happy Gladfelter upon exiting his Trone Outdoor Advertising #69 in victory lane, "

Third through fifth were Trail-Way points leader Brent Marks, Jan Luckenbaugh, and 21st-starting Mike Dicely, who qualified through the "B" Main. Sixth through tenth were Matt Pupello, Shane Lewis, Brock Zearfoss, Timmy Barrick, and Kyle Moody.

Heats for the 94 Micro-sprints were won by Mike Rutherford, Keith Ford, Shawn Siefert, Brock Zearfoss, Jan Luckenbaugh, Tim Gladfelter, Heath Henley, Mark Strickler, Brent Marks and Shane Lewis.

Mike Dicely won the B-Main, Dwayne Gutshall won the C-Main, Joe Robertson won the D-Main, and Ken Miller won the E-Main.

The Central PA Legends feature was postponed by rain and will be made up as part of a triple-header program with the 410 sprints and URC sprints on August 16th.

Heats for the Legends were won by Shane Gladfelter, Andy Lupfer, and 70-year-old guest driver Will Cagle, one of the top modified stars in the Northeast from the 1960's through the 1980's.

Next Saturday night, July 5th, Lincoln Speedway will hold a five-feature program featuring the 358 Sprints, Super Sportsman and 358 Late Models. The Kreizer Aluminum Wheels 358 Sprints will be in action with a regularly scheduled show, while both the Super Sportsman and MALCO Landscaping, Inc. 358 Late Models will hold make-up features in addition to their regularly scheduled show on the same night.

Gates will open at 5:30 PM, with warm-ups at 7 PM, and green flag action getting underway at 7:30 PM.
