Kids Night rescheduled to next Saturday; Points titles going down to the final shows
ABBOTTSTOWN, PA , 8/21/09 - After reeling off 22 straight racing programs, Lincoln Speedway was forced to bow to the weather Saturday night, August 22nd. With the threat of rain all around the Central Pennsylvania area, Lincoln Speedway promoters Bob and Don Leiby, along with Alan Kreitzer, were hopeful as the a light drizzle began to fall just 15 minutes before the gates were scheduled to open.
With no significant change in the radar after two hours of watching and waiting, the promoters were forced to cancel the racing program.
"Kids Night" has been rescheduled for next Saturday, August 29th. It was also the second of two York County Racing Club Nights on the season, and promoters will check with the club before rescheduling the next club night before season’s end.
The cancellation now reduces the number of 410 sprint car point races remaining in ‘09 to three, two of which will be the "Twin 20's" next Saturday night.
That points chase will likely go down the final laps of the last points race on Fisher Auto Parts Night September 5th. Defending champ Brian Montieth holds a ten-point lead over Alan Krimes entering next Saturday’s Twin 20's.
The 358 sprint cars now have just one event remaining on the season, the 358 Sprint Car Championship to be held on Saturday, September 12th. That puts Dale Hammaker in the driver’s seat for the 2009 "358" sprint point championship. He has a 165 point lead on Glenndon Forsythe heading into the final event. The only other driver who has a mathematical shot at the point title is defending champ Jeff Rohrbaugh, who is 180 points behind Hammaker.
Next Saturday night, August 29th, Lincoln Speedway will hold Twin 20's for the 410 Sprints in the next to last point event in the season-long battle for the Lawrence Chevrolet 410 Sprint Championship. Rounding out the evening’s racing program will be the always thrilling thundercars. It’ll also be Kids Night, with prizes for the kids one-week later than planned. Racing action will get underway at 7 PM, with gates opening at 5 PM and hot laps taking to the track at 6:30 PM.
