RUDISILL SCORES FIRST CAREER WIN, DEWEASE SETS NEW TRACK RECORD IN LINCOLN TWIN 20'S

Mario Page wins first SpeedSTR race ever held in Pigeon Hills;
Kyle Martin becomes the night’s second first-career winner in Thundercars

ABBOTTSTOWN, PA , 8/28/10 - John Rudisill thrilled the crowd by holding off Danny Dietrich and Brian Montieth for his first career win, and Lance Dewease pulled the slider to pass Aaron Ott with the white flag waving to set a new track record in the Twin 20's for "410" sprint cars at Lincoln Speedway Saturday night.

There was no shortage of action in either feature event.

Though the Rudisill Trucking & Excavating/Caskey Printing/Rife’s Racing Collectibles #4 started on the pole and led every lap of the first 20-lap feature, two red flags, including one on the 19th-lap, kept a competitive field close throughout.

The first red flag came out for a front stretch flip involving Mark Smith and Kevin Nagy, who got together while racing for fifth. Both drivers were uninjured, but done for the night.

The second red flag came out in turn two of lap 19, when Brent Marks caught the back side of Brad McClelland while racing for second, slid up the race track, and collected the #51 of Fred Rahmer, who tipped onto his side. In this case, both drivers were able to continue (Rahmer with a damaged top wing), but the red put McClelland, 20th-starting Brian Montieth, and 17th-starting Danny Dietrich on Rudisill’s tail for the final restart.

The mad two-lap dash to the finish saw both Montieth and Dietrich get by McClelland on lap 19 and Dietrich pass Montieth for the runner-up spot on the final lap.

But through it all, Rudisill ran a flawless race to cross .69 seconds ahead of Dietrich, with Montieth, McClelland, and tenth-starting Johnny Mackison, Jr. completing the top five. Sixth through tenth were 16th-starting Lance Dewease, Tim Glatfelter, 23rd-starting Aaron Ott, 15th-starting Josh Wells, and 21st-starting Brian Leppo.

"I was loose, and I was hanging on for dear life," said a jubilant Rudisill in victory lane, "I tried to get it up on the curb and run it up there...either ballpark it or bring it into victory lane!"

"We bought this car from Daryn Pittman," added Rudisill, "It was an old Titan car from the World of Outlaws."

"My goal was just to get a win at Williams Grove or Lincoln," continued Rudisill, "It’s amazing how much support we get from the fans. Without them, we wouldn’t be here."

Rudisill’s selection of the number "8" pill for the inversion put Aaron Ott on the pole and Lance Dewease on the inside of row two for the second 20-lapper.

Ott, who actually got undressed and thought he was done for the night after a crash in his qualifying event, led the first 18 laps before Dewease pulled the "flyer" in turns three and four as the pair came down to take the white flag.

Dewease led the final two laps to pick up his third win of the year and 35th of his career in the Pigeon Hills, establishing a 20-lap track record of 5:37.346 and crossing .88 seconds ahead of Ott.

"We’re set up for late in races and these 20-lappers are not that long of a race for us," said Dewease after exiting his Advanced Development Services Don Owens #30C, "But we got rolling in the middle there in one and two at the end, and got runs on Aaron. We kept giving him a slider but I kept giving him room, and finally he came down a little going into three, so we could get by him there."

Brian Montieth, Danny Dietrich, and Brent Marks completed the top five. Sixth through tenth were 14th-starting Alan Krimes, Michael Carber, McClelland, Tim Glatfelter, and Mackison.

Heats for the 23 "410" sprinters were won by Rudisill, Pat Cooper, and Kevin Nagy.

Multi-time Trail-Way winner Kyle Martin finally claimed his first career Lincoln win in the 20-lap thundercar feature. In doing so, Martin picked up a $150 bonus and trophy courtesy of Brookside Motors in Dover, Byers Tire in Mount Royal, and Chaperracer.com.

Third-starting Danny Beard took the lead on the opening lap and led the first six laps before an ignition wire came off on lap seven, ending his night. Beard received $75 bonus from friends of Kenny Slaybaugh for being named the hard-luck driver of the night.

Martin, who started fifth and was challenging Beard for the lead, took over the top spot for one lap before two-time champ Duane Watson took over on lap eight.

Martin came right back to take the lead on lap nine, and led the rest of the way with Watson literally on his back bumper at the finish.

Third through fifth were Sam Gallagher, Brian Walls, and points leader Gino Comi.

In a special five-lap Dash for Cash, Watson came from sixth to score the win after leader Martin dropped from the field with mechanical problems. Byers Tire and pathundercars.com put up the $150 shared among the top three finishers in the Dash.

Heats for the 20 thundercars were won by Tom Walls and Martin.

Points leader Mario Page raced to his sixth win of the year in the first-ever appearance by the Speedway Entertainment SpeedSTRS at Lincoln. Page started fifth and swapped the lead several times with Tyler Potts between laps seven and ten before finally taking the lead for good.

Potts settled for second, with Ronnie Tobias, Jr., and brothers Kyle Hieber and Gary Hieber, Jr. completing the top five.

Heats for the SpeedSTRS were won by Freddie Rahmer and Kyle Hieber.

Next Saturday night, September 3rd, at 7:30 PM, it will be Premier Auto Works/Auto Locator Night at Lincoln Speedway featuring the final point race of the season for the Lawrence Chevrolet 410 sprinters. Joining them will be the 358 Late Models and the final tune-up race for the Super Sportsman before their annual Sportsman 100 on Sept. 18th. The evening will be capped off by a spectacular fireworks display! Gates open at 5:30 pm.
