Super Sportsman, Thundercars & Limited Late Models on tap next Saturday night, October 14th
ABBOTTSTOWN, PA, 10/7/06 - Persistent rain showers, which began after a handful of cars had taken time trials and lingered into the evening, finally forced Lincoln Speedway promoters to postpone the 10th Annual Kenny Weld Memorial Saturday night.
The 40-lap $5,000-to-win event is now rescheduled for Saturday night, October 21st at 7 PM.
Rain checks will be honored for the rescheduled Weld Memorial on October 21st. Fans traveling from more than 100 miles away may have there tickets refunded by sending there rain checks to Sel-Wil, Inc., 7073 Carlisle Pike, Box 162, Carlisle, PA, 17015.
Forty 410 sprinters and 29 thundercars were in the pits for the program. During a lengthy rain delay, Lincoln officials amended the night’s format to eliminate time trials, have the drivers draw for starting spots for longer heats (12 laps), and presented the fireworks display that had been rained out from Labor Day weekend. The plug was finally pulled when a second line of showers hit the speedway at about 9:30 p.m.
Next Saturday night, October 14th, Lincoln Speedway will host the final Super Sportsman Tour event of 2006, joined by the Silver Spring Limited Late Models. The Thundercars regulars will round out the evening’s racing action as they continue to battle for precious points in there battle for the track championship.
Then in two weeks, Saturday, October 21st Lincoln Speedway will run the rescheduled 10th Annual Kenny Weld Memorial for the 410 Sprint. The 2006 Season Finale will also end the season-long battle for the thundercar championship.
