ABBOTTSTOWN, PA , 5/9/09 - It’s been a long time since a car pulled in an open trailer has won a "410" sprint car feature at Lincoln Speedway.

Trone Outdoor Advertising cars finished first and last in Saturday’s "A Main." But not in the order most fans who weren’t there would guess.

Former micro-sprint driver Tim Glatfelter started on the pole and dominated the entire way, taking the checkered more than three seconds in front of the rest of the field for his first career "410" sprint car win.

""I can’t believe it," said the jubilant Glatfelter after completing a wing dance celebration on his Trone number 39T in victory lane, "We came here three weeks in a row and couldn’t even qualify. We got Kevin (Frey) on board this week, and he knows what he is doing. We were struggling and didn’t know what to do. This car just drove off the corners. He came out there (during a red) with 12 down and told me to run the same line I was running and I got it."

Glatfelter raced out to a four and-a-half second lead by the end of the tenth lap, with Johnny Mackison, Jr. second and Cris Eash third. A caution on lap 13 for the stopped car of John Rudisill tightened the field, and the race was then stopped after a six-car crash resulted in a Jeff Busby flip on turn three of the restart. Both Busby and points leader Doug Esh were done for the night.

Glatfelter again pulled away on the restart and ran away from the field over the next 13 non-stop laps.

"We started up front and the track was slick," said Glatfelter. "If they were better they could have passed me, but they didn’t and I still can’t believe it!"

"I didn’t know how far ahead I was. If anybody was going to pass me, I was going to run the bottom," continued Glatfelter, "When they came out under that red and told me I had a straightaway lead I said we must not be too bad. But with three to go, I clipped the inside guardrail coming out of two. I was making sure no one was passing me on the inside!"

Mackison completed his best Lincoln run in several years in second, with Eash third, Brian Montieth coming from 15^th starting spot to finish fourth, and Alan Krimes passing Fred Rahmer on the next-to-last lap to cross fifth. Sixth through tenth were Rahmer, Justin Henderson, Niki Young, Jim Siegel, and Brian Leppo.

"We came from the micros and it’s such a big learning curve and it’s tough to decide what to do. I’ve also got to thank Doug Esh and his crew because the help us a lot, too."

Heats for the 29 "410" sprinters were won by Krimes, Glatfelter and Cory Haas, with Siegel winning the consolation.

Westminster, MD’s Brad McClelland avoided four multi-car crashes and raced to his fourth career Lincoln win in the "358" sprint car feature. He advanced from sixth to third starting spot for the single-file start after four attempts to start the race ended in crashes.

McClellan d followed polesitter Derek Sell for the first two laps before making the race-winning pass on lap three. He held off Gerard McIntyre, Jr. the entire way, crossing .69-seconds in front of the Sody Concrete #16 to become the third winner in as many events for the "358" sprint at Lincoln in ‘09.

Scott Geesey ran third all 20 laps, with Tim Wagaman finishing fourth and defending champ Jeff Rohrbaugh coming from the back after being involved in two of the four first-lap incidents.

Sixth through tenth were Austin Reed, Eric Tomecek, Tim Berkheimer, Jason Clauss, and Dale Hammaker.

Heats for the 38 "358" sprinters were won by Rohrbaugh, Ricky Stonebraker, Ott and Sell, with Bob Anderson and Berkheimer winning twin consolations.

New Oxford’s Mike Slaybaugh celebrated his 52^nd birthday with a win in the 20-lap thundercar feature.

Outside front row starter Kyle Martin led the first 17 laps before fifth-starting Slaybaugh was able to make his race-winning move on lap 18. Once in the lead, Slaybaugh raced away to a 1.51-second win, his first of the year and the third Lincoln win of his career. Slaybaugh became the fifth different winner in six thundercar features this year.

Martin held on for second, with Mikey Guise running in the top three the entire race and crossing third, defending champ Sam Gallagher reclaiming the points lead with his fourth-place finish, and Danny Beard completing the top five. Sixth through tenth were Gino Comi, Rick Weaver, polesitter Justin Mong, 18^th-starting Brad Shank, and Larry Neiderer.

Heats for the 20 thundercars were won by Duane Watson (who was credited with 20^th in the feature), Gallagher, and Danny Beard.

Next Saturday night, May 16th, the Lawrence Chevrolet 410 Sprinters will be joined by the 358 Late Models and Street Stocks. Racing action gets underway at 7 PM, with gates opening at 5 PM and hot laps at 6:30 PM.
