Just a reminder that steel rotors must be used on 358 sprint cars at Lincoln this year. At the first race this season, I said at the driver's meeting that because some teams were not aware of the change until they arrived at the track, I would not enforce the rule for that show only. But some teams have still not changed them - we had 13 cars in the pits last night with at least one rotor that did not attract a magnet. I was able to talk track management into granting a one-week grace period for last night but there will be no tolerance on this rule at your next show.
This rule originated at the winter 358 meeting held at YCRC. One of the goals of that meeting was to have uniform rules at all tracks that run 358 sprint cars and Selinsgrove, Williams Grove and Lincoln did so with a few small exceptions. Trail-Way's rules still differ in several areas. Just as Selinsgrove adopted some of Williams Grove's and Lincoln's rules, we adopted their rule requiring steel rotors.
I know all about how long aluminum rotors have been around and used successfully. But for better or worse, the rule is in our Rule Book and will be enforced.
