How much would it cost to build a decent motor to run the thunder car class?

cant everyone be nice??

cost of the motors depends on how you want to run? you will never out class a whole field in any division there will always be 4-5 guys with just as good. you can listen to them guys that say they have little motors and under powered, if they are winning...they lie! especially if they win more then 1 or 2!
but depending on that i know people with $2,500 in their motors and i know people that have around $12,000 in some. how competitive do u want to be??

the first new motor i built the second year we ran thundercars i had around $7500.00 in it and everything was new and i had some that i had $3500.00 in and ran just as good so you should get a decent motor for around 5 to 6 grand depending on who builds it

Just curious? Why do people spend that kind of money to win $300. Why not run a crate?
