Saturday, March 23 (6PM) GENE LATTA FORD NIGHT: 410 Sprints and Legends

Abbottstown, PA (March 3, 2024) – For as hot as Anthony Macri has been, its almost impossible to think that his last win was in July of last year, “We haven’t won since last July, it’s been awhile, and honestly this feels great.” Macri took the green flag for the 30-lap feature form the pole, but his win was anything but easy, “I almost gave today away, but I salvaged it on the restart.” Macri briefly gave up the lead to Kyle Moody right before the red flag came out, “I know I have a problem of being reserved and not aggressive enough in lapped traffic and it kind of bit me and Kyle got by me.” Moody led the field on the restart with Macri in tow, “I had a good run down the back stretch and got him. I knew from there I had to run some pretty good laps and negotiate lapped traffic better.” One Macri retook the lead, he never looked back and scored his ninth career win in the pigeon hills.

Anthony Macri and Kyle Moody made up the front row for the start of the 30-lap feature. Macri took the green at the start with Moody moving up the track allowing Gerard McIntyre to take second. Moody tried to reclaim the spot with a slider but McIntyre held the advantage at the line. Matt Campbell was on Moody’s tail tank trying to take third when the yellow came out on lap 3. Cameron Smith spun in turn 3 and collected Tyler Ross.

Macri, McIntyre, Moody, Campbell and Kody Hartlaub were the top five for the restart. Moody got under McIntyre for second on the restart but Gerard reclaimed the spot down the back stretch and kept it. McIntyre started to pull away leaving Moody to fend off a challenge from Campbell for third.

Macri was closing in on the tail end of the field with a sizable lead and entered lapped traffic on lap 9. McIntyre started to reel in Macri as they raced through lapped traffic. Moody raced back to challenge McIntyre for second yet again. This time Moody got by McIntyre for second and kept the spot. Moody made quick work of tracking down Macri to challenge for the lead and took it just past the halfway mark. The red flag came out on lap 16 as Kody Hartlaub took a rough ride in turns 3 and 4. Hartlaub had been running sixth.

Moody led Macri, McIntyre, Campbell and Danny Dietrich to the cone for the restart. Moody got a good jump, but Macri was all over him down the back stretch and reclaimed the lead. Moody slid him back but to no avail. McIntyre took advantage of the situation and took second from Moody yet again. Campbell entered the picture, making it a three-way battle for second.

Moody won the battle and moved back into second as Macri was pulling away from the field. Campbell and McIntyre were still battling for third as Dietrich joined in. Macri entered lapped traffic again with seven laps to go.

Danny was working on Campbell for fourth and took the spot on lap 26. Dietrich then went to work on McIntyre for third with two laps to go. Devon Borden joined and made it yet another exciting three-car battle for position on the track.

Macri crossed the line 2.661 seconds ahead of Moody for the win. Dietrich finished third and Borden was fourth. McIntyre completed the top five.

PA Micro Midgets

Pole-sitter Samuel Miller led the first 10 laps of the PA Micro Midget 500cc feature before Ryan Rost took over the top spot with five laps to go. The red came out with two laps to go in the feature setting up a two-lap shootout for the finish. Miller didn’t let Rost out of his sight, but Rost would get the win by just .223 seconds over Miller. Chris Ott won the PA Micro Midget 300cc feature.

Next Saturday, March 9, Lincoln Speedway is back in action with the 410 Sprints and Legends. Racing is scheduled for 3PM with pit gates opening at 12:30PM and grandstand gates opening at 1PM.
